Pre-RTR Rotation Analysis of 509 Online Decks

Yes...that's 462 unique cards and a total of 33,076 cards. I took a look at the top 200 cards and separated them into 'gone with rotation' and 'staying after rotation.' Throughout this post I am only referring to these 200 top cards by use.

The first batch rotating out are cards with "Infect (This creature deals damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters and to players in the form of poison counters.)"

Here are the two planeswalkers that are rotating out (in the top 200).

There are many artifacts rotating out in the top 200, especially from Scars of Mirrodin.

Here are the dual lands rotating out. The text for tapped conditional reads " enters the battlefield tapped unless you control two or fewer other lands."

Many instants and sorceries are rotating out as well as one enchantment. In this first group are cards using the Phyrexian mana condition "(Phyrexian [White, Blue, Black, Red, Green] can be paid with either Red or 2 life.)"

These do not use Phyrexian mana.

Here are the creatures in the top 200 that are rotating out.

Here are the cards that are not rotating out by set. Here is Innistrad.

Here is Dark Ascension.

And Avacyn Restored.

Finally, here is M13.

When I sum the percentage contribution for all the cards in a set, Innistrad had the largest presence Gross, and also when I normalized for set size by dividing the percent total by the size of the set and multiplying that number by 158, which is the number of cards in the smallest set (Dark Ascension). This is no surprise given the large number of dual lands in Innistrad and that Snapcaster Mage and Delver of Secrets are from this set.

The cards with 1 percent or more participation accounted for 37.45 percent of all the cards.
