Black half deck from the 2013 Deck Builder's Toolkit

I pulled a few nice Black creatures from the packs, as well as from the selection of common and uncommon that are part of the toolkit.

First up are:

Butcher Ghoul-AVR-C.
Evernight Shade-DKA-U.
Shimian Specter-M13-R.

I also pick:

Two of Vampire Nighthawk-M13-U: Flying, Deathtouch, Lifelink.
Two of Veilborn Ghoul-M13-U (one from the booster pack): Can return it from graveyard to hand when a swamp enters the battlefield.
Falkenrath Noble-ISD-U: Flying. Whenever Falkenrath Noble or another creature dies, target player loses 1 life and you gain 1 life. (Similar to Blood Artist but with a four mana cost).
Abattoir Ghoul-ISD-U: First Strike. Whenever a creature dealt damage by Abattoir Ghoul this turn dies, you gain life equal to that creature's toughness.

I have three creature slots left and eleven cards to pick from. I can be picky for these much more so than I have been for White or Blue.

Tormented Soul-M13-C: Can't block and is unblockable. This is a simple 1/1 one mana creature. We are building fun decks here, not tournament-quality decks.
Crypt Creeper-AVR-C: Sacrifice Crypt Creeper; Exile target card from a graveyard.

... and between Ravenous Rats-M13-C and Black Cat-DKA-C I pick Ravenous Rats because the creature name is plain old 'rat' and not 'zombie rat.' A zombie rat is still a zombie and can be attacked by anti-Zombie abilities.

Now to the Sorceries, Instants and Enchantments. I pulled an Unburial Rites off the Innistrad pack.

The selection of Black Sorceries, Instants and Enchantments not in the packs is excellent: I pick all eight cards!

Ghoulcaller's Chant-Sorcery-ISD-C.

Sign in Blood-M13-C (a reprint).

Two of Victim of Night-ISD-C.

Two of Murder-Instant-M13-C: Destroy target creature.
Duress-Sorcery-M13-C (a reprint): Target opponent reveals his or her hand. You choose a noncreature, nonland card from it. That player discards that card.
