Commanders

I went through the legendary creatures in Modern one by one looking for what seem like good Commander format commanders. This is a very subjective selection. I mostly took cards that had a low enough casting cost and obviously powerful flavor text. Also, I took cards that didn't have the obvious flavor text that does not work for a commander, such as "sacrifice [this card] and something great happens for you in this game," or "During your upkeep [something great happens with this card]" because during commander play you will likely use your commander only a handful of times.

Here is the list in order of increasing converted mana cost. It took a long time to read comments for all of these cards and the other 200 or so that didn't make my inexperienced cut. The Champions of Kamigawa block went "legendary crazy." Even though you see many Kamigawa block legendaries in this list, there are many more that are not here. I lost count, but there is a disproportionate number of legendary creatures in the Kamigawa block-it should be called the Legendary Block. Ten of the 82 candidates on this list are from Champions of Kamigawa!!! And five more are from the other two sets in that block.
